Giant Desert Komodo
Megla-Varanus Komodoensis
The Giant Desert Komodo, indigenous to the Susarian Region, is, given by its name, the largest species of lizard that was incorrectly categorized as a dragon when first discovered due to the shape of its mouth and the sheer size of the reptiles. The fringe on their backs only adds to their enormous height, using it as a means of intimidation and mate finding, making an adult male Desert Komodo stand at a monstrous ten foot. Its massive jaw can bite down with a pressure of 4,500 pounds per square inch.
Though mostly nocturnal, rarely they can be seen hunting during the day. Regularly, they use the cooler evening to hunt and rest once the sun comes up to conserve energy. They are carnivorous, even cannibalistic if they become desperate.
Xynnar and its surrounding territories actively hunt the beasts to protect their people, but their teeth and claws are extremely valuable, as well as their abundance of meat. Other than man, they have no natural predator, going head to head with elephants and lions with ease. They're extremely territorial.
