    Port Side Meeting 5pY1Jdg

    The Red Dutchy's castle town stood strong and tall over the ocean beneath it. The tall stone statues of the country's deities standing vehemently against the waves that crashed against them. The ports were wet under the torrential amount of rain that seemed to coat the sea sides of the Red Dutchy. Something about the atmosphere felt off to most people who came to the castle town. It truly was an enigma as to what it was.

    Nilo stood at the end of the port where the boat should be coming boarding at. He had heard it wasn't the most elegant of ships, but he supposed they took the first one they could find. It wasn't like he had the opportunity to send a boat all the way across the ocean himself. Things had been quite undesirable for the most part... Regardless, he'd stand as proper and optimistic as he could. He wanted to welcome his friends with open arms.

    Zinnian would stand beside Nilo, her tall and terrifying figure causing most to keep away from them. She held above herself an umbrella that conveniently was large enough to cover Nilo even though he had his own umbrella in hand. She considered him a tad bit hopeless when it came to his flightiness, but she supposed it was an endearing quirk at times.

    Regardless, besides the storm, boats would go out to aid the ship into port easier. Their larger bodies helping take the brunt of most of the waves for the smaller ship. It would board carefully and without much worry, thanks to that, and Nilo stood on his heels in anxious wait. It was good to see more friendly and familiar faces again after so much had happened.

    Evandra huddled next to Nilo, her cloak drawn around her tightly. The cold wind whipped around, and chilled her to the bone. She sighed, glancing toward Zi. Wet. Cold. And Zi was here. She bristled, gripping Nilo's arm.

    She hadn't seen Ellery in so long... and what state was Amarra in? After the battle in Estemen, they left... She sighed and watched the ship pull in. Would Nathan be with them? Would... Lochannar?

    Her breath hitched, and she glanced to Nilo. This was going to be interesting.

    ~~~
    Ellery bounded around in the rain, her cloak barely keeping her warm. She lifted another trunk and thunked it into Lochannar's arms. "There! Oh, wait, no!" She scurried along, grabbed one last bag, and tiptoed, setting it atop the pile in Lochannar's arms. "There we are!"
    "All ready?" She bounded up and down, hands clasped. Rain splattered down on her bare head, because who needed hoods? She was much too excited to be thinking of such rational things.
    Lochannar grunted. "As ready as I'll every be, Gingersnap."
    Amarra watched as Ellery piled everything on poor Lochannar. She shook her head and sighed, silently taking one of the more precarious things off him. Her hood kept her comfortable, if a little damp - Though, she was sure her more feline inclined comrade was not as content as she was. "I am ready." The dark city towered above them, and she returned its morbid gaze with an untrusting look of her own.
    The young man would happily clap his hand against the umbrella as the boat safely pulled into port. He'd start walking towards him if not for Zi extending an arm stopping him from moving forward. She'd wave for the servants to go and aid the small group out. She'd huff as she noticed Lochanaar was with them. Wonderful, she'd have to deal with that 'wonderful' beast once more.
    Nilo would sigh, resigning his fate to move towards his friends. He didn't understand politics that well or why he couldn't do simple things like this. Zi did, though, and she was a strict teacher, to say the least. He'd glance over at Eva, a smile on his face. He'd hold up his umbrella in case she wanted to go see them. He'd forsake even Zi for her... That sort of dedication was almost suicidal.
    Art watched the scene silently while the rain and wind beat against him. A small smile began to form as he saw Lochannar. This would be Art's chance to make it better, now was the time to make up for everything he had done. Standing tall Art's head rose a little higher, he was determined to make things right with all the people he had wronged. He would prove to them that he is capable of change. The smile on Arts face grew bigger when he saw Ellery. Did he have to prove himself to her too? yes. What excited him more though was him remembering her cooking and how GOOD it was. Rumble he looked down at his stomach and patted it "Im huuunnnnggrrrrryyyyyyy." he said to himself although probably loud enough for some to hear.
    Amarra would finally grin, smiling warmly to her friends. "Oh what a relief..." Her feet couldn't stay still any longer. She rushed over to Eva, then to Nilo, and hugged them. "I am so glad you are all safe..." Then it occurred to her; Liniel wasn't with them. She stood straight and looked around, "Where is Liniel? Is... is she not well?" Concern filled her heart, dread soon accompanying it. Eva had promised to get her out, and she had gotten a letter that said she was with them...
    Lin still wouldn't join them - choosing to sulk and brood in Lo-style. She had found a favorable hiding spot somewhere hard to reach and had stayed there for some time.
    Evandra, despite spotting her friends, remained planted next to Nilo. She didn't want to rush things, especially with Lochannar there. Why did they bring him, anyways? It's not like he'd be any kind of help. More likely to cause problems than do any good.
    Her expression twisted into a frown. And why did it have to be raining? Did it ever stop raining in this place? It was cold, and wet, and... she didn't have time to continue in her grumpy mental tirade, as she spotted Amarra rushing toward them, a grin spread across her face.
    Now that was a welcome sight! She hugged her dear friend tightly. "I missed you," she said softly.
    Lin? Oh, right. Eva sighed. She could feel Amarra's anxiety, so she quickly interjected. "Lin's fine. She just... didn't want to come." Fine? Well, maybe fine didn't cut it. But Eva just wanted to reassure her friend. She smiled lightly. "I think she needed some time to herself..."
    ~~~

    Lochannar had muttered his thanks to Amarra when she took the precarious piece of luggage. But then she was off, darting to meet their friends. Yeah, she could be excited about seeing Evandra again. Or any of them, for that matter. For once, Lochannar was grateful for his burden. Maybe he wouldn't have to face the others right away.

    Annoyingly enough, Ellery had unofficially dubbed him her personal servant. And she was somehow positively delighted to be here. Somehow that girl wasn't affected by the deary, oppressive feeling of the place. Was it ignorance, or just her incessantly happy attitude? He huffed. Whatever the case, she was about to drive him mad.

    "Aunt Evandra!" Ellery squealed in delight. But, instead of dashing up to them, she gave herself a little dignity with a fast walk. She remembered, last minute, to yank up her hood, and then, after Amarra, tackling Evandra in a big hug.

    Lochannar hung back, and reluctantly gave the servants sent that way some of the luggage. He, however, kept at least one box to himself(not like he could let someone else get a hold of Evandra's cats. Why Ellery had to bring them was beyond him). He slowly plodded after the women then, head down.

    The boy would eagerly hug Amarra back, a happy sigh escaping him. It had been way too long since he last saw her. She had been an important person to him since their wedding, and now it came full circle that she was attending theirs. It made him happy thinking about how much time the small group had spent together, even with the countless trials that they had witnessed.

    "I am glad the boat trip wasn't too much for you all. Thank you so much for coming, Amarra." he'd say with a happy smile, glad that people he actually knew about were here. He put on a mask in front of Kaya and Anenia despite their notable like towards him. He simply didn't know them, though. Nowhere near as well as he knew his friends here.

    "Ah, yes... Liniel simply felt under the weather. The Red Dutchy has that effect on first-time travelers... The raw amount of energy that flows through these lands can upset even those with no magical gifting." he'd say, sighing gently as he felt the ever present tole on his own mana pool. He was a Red despite what he was and how he came to be. The energy here felt far too familiar and far too... Inviting. It felt like his magic could explode out if he didn't keep it under check. He shivered at the thought of him accidentally tapping into that energy whilst playing a song.

    "It is good to see you, Ellery." the young man would say with a happy smile towards Eva's adopted relative. He hadn't spent an overly large amount of time with her, but the time he did were always positive and pleasant. He had confided to her a few times, and that was enough to make her a welcomed face.

    "I see that Lochannar is here. I didn't expect him to travel across the ocean..." the shadow would mutter under her breath before sending a glare at Arturo. To be within the presence of royalty and do something so disgraceful was enough for her to jab the boy's leg with a shadow. Mind, it wasn't an actual attack, just a jab meant to get him to act more proper. Honestly, breakfast was made perfectly as always by Paftari.

    "He is a welcomed guest regardless, Zinnian. I'm glad you all made it here safely." Nilo would say with a happy smile on his face. He was so glad they were all together again. He had so much to share with them and show him his home! Even if it was weird and different... It was special to him and he'd adore it if they saw all the true splendors of the royal palace and the gardens.

    Art flinched when the jab connected with his leg, looking at her he grinned "Oh my dearest Apologies Zinnian! I do believe i meant to say I am quite famished at this hour and would enjoy partaking in some fine cuisine!" he said in his most proper "accent". Although Art had improved in the way he acted, he simply could not resist being a smart alek.

    After his attempt at being "proper"  he quickly backed away though. The regret was almost instantaneous, it took him a brief moment to remember just exactly who he was talking to. Quietly he said a prayer to himself and hoped that Zi wouldn't maim him, or worse.

    Her expression fell a bit, but her chest eased its hold on her heart. "Ah. I expected as much." She kept her mouth shut; bringing up what happened probably wouldn't help. She doubted they wanted to talk about it anyway. "It doesn't matter. She will join us later."

    Once more, her smile returned, widening further with her eyes shimmering in mischief, "There's something else we need to attend to yes?" Her eyes flicked to Ellery, and she had to fight the giggle that bubbled up. Amarra looped her arm through Eva's, the older woman now grinning down at her - and trapping her. "Right, Ellery?"

    Fine? Ellery squinted at Evandra. Fine was such an over-used word, to the extent that it seemed to have a different meaning. 'I'm not okay but not willing to deal with the problem' is how she usually took it. After what happened at Estemen(from what little information she dared gather from Amarra), she doubted any of them were truly okay. And Eva certainly didn't look it.

    Evandra shrunk back next to Nilo, closely pressed against his side. Her wide eyes glanced between them all, but most often, they focused on something-or one- past them. Oh. Lochannar.

    Ellery fidgeted with her cloak, and glanced over her shoulder. Lochannar, as usual, stood with a sour expression, and refused to make eye contact with anyone: particularly Zi and Arturo. He held the box of cats like a protective wall in front of him, and ground his heel into the ground.

    Ellery shook her head. Enough of those negative thoughts. This was a joyous reunion! She smiled, and stepped forward, then back again. She cleared her throat. Nilo might not take a sudden hug too well. "Good to see you, too, Nilo! A-And good to be here, as well, most certainly."

    She chuckled under her breath, and cast a glance at Lochannar. "The trip wasn't nearly what I expected. Lochannar's been a bit..." she blanched under his threatening glare, "erm, under the weather."

    "Oh yes!" Amarra's subject change lit up Ellery's eyes with delight. She bounced on her toes. "Absolutely! Plenty to be done.~" She clasped her hands together. "Is there a set date?"

    Evandra jumped, mildly startled by Amarra, but she smiled up at her friend. Now squished between Nilo and Amarra, she was mostly glad for the further protection from the inclement weather. With a nervous chuckle, she glanced between the faces of delight and pure mischief. Which probably meant those two already had plenty of plans-- most of which she was thankful for. But cramming her in some ridiculous 'beautiful' fancified dress?  Bah, formality would be the death of her.

    But... Evandra looked up to Nilo and smiled. It would be worth it.

    Nilo heard Arturo's snarky comment, and before he could interject Zi would quickly release a dark tendril from her shadow that would quickly swat Arturo with enough force to throw him into the ocean. Silence would permeate the docks as the workers would only slowly go about their business again in an attempt to not bring any unwanted attention from the shadow.

    "Let this be a lesson to all of you while you are here. Do not back talk to a royal in their kingdom, especially not the Red Dutchy. I am not able to interject should you irritate one of the Reds." she'd say coldly, the shadowy tendril returning to the darkness as she waved for the workers to hurry their duties up. She was ready to return to the palace after such rudeness.

    "U-Um! Sir! Could you help our friend out please?" Nilo would say after Zi's words, a somewhat nervous look on his face. The worker would oblige and throw a rope for Art to grab onto, but the waters were still very rough even though they were at a distance where the waves wouldn't crash against him. Still, not even a giant like Arturo should stay in rough waters for long.

    "W-Well! Um... With that out of the way, h-how about I take you to the royal palace? You are all welcomed and esteemed guests of the Dutchy! And I'm ecstatic to get to hear how you have all been." he'd say with the enthusiasm was commonly seen in curators of a museum trying to keep people from freaking out when a display broke or something. He didn't want anything to ruin the wedding or cause any strife. Honestly, the sooner they all got out of here the better... Would he ever say that? No. He thought it though.

    Before Art could let out even a scream he was smacked by the tendril and sent flying down into the waters below. He landed in the water with a loud splash and sank deep down. Struggling against the power of the water he swam upwards in an attempt to resurface. Before he reached the top the current pulled him swiftly under again, he was running out of breath; His vision began to darken at the edge, his lungs burned as hot as a bonfire. In a last ditch effort he thrust his legs and arms in a downward motion as to propel himself up and above water. Luckily he was successful and he rose above the water with a loud gasp. The burning in his lungs slowly ceased as he grabbed onto the rope and tugged his way up to the top.

    As Art reached the top he flopped onto his back and breathed in very heavily. "I never thought my manners would almost get me killed." he said to himself with a half chuckle.

    "Oh dear..." Amarra shook her head and sighed softly. When would he learn...? One day, it had to get through to him, right? His sass would get him into something, and he'd learn. Surely... "Well... It'd be nice to get out of the rain," She mumble in reply to Nilo, trying to deflect and rerout the conversation. "There's so much to do, I'd love to get started."

    Once they focused on this, everything else would fade away. Her friends, her daughter, even she could have a moment to breathe and be at peace. Then, she could ignore the raging headache that was sitting in her temples.

    Ellery stood, eyes wide, looking between Nilo, Zi, Arturo, and back to Nilo.
    After a short moment, she composed herself, clamped her jaw shut, and adjusted her cloak with a poorly disguised shudder. "I... I agree. It would be best to be on our way, right?" Her voice held much less cheer than before, perhaps a dash of timidity in the quaver.

    Lochannar, however, watched the scene unfold with undisguised satisfaction. He remained placed a good distance from the group, but his voice carried. "Now that was almost worth crossing the ocean to witness." He glanced toward the others, his expression fading back to his emotionless mask. "Pleasant as always, I see," the mutter was almost indecipherable.

    He glanced toward Arturo as they hauled him out of the water. No matter how satisfactory it was to see that fat bear thrown into the ocean, part of him still itched to spite Zi. So, without a second thought, he set down the box of cats he held, and strode over to Arturo. "You know," he stated dryly, "it had nothing to do with manners. Just plain common sense." Expressionless, he extended his hand to help him up. "With Zi, you have to insult her right."

    "H-How about we don't insult anyone? L-Let's just... Be nice and polite?" Nilo would pipe up, giving Lo a pleading look. Honestly, he knew everyone didn't get along but this wasn't just some royal they could run away from if they upset a little. His parents... This nation... It isn't normal. It wasn't normal, it was different and dangerous and scary... It would simply be better if they all just didn't upset them.

    "Anyways, we have carriages just up ahead. S-Shall we go?" he'd say with a reassuring smile, ushering his friends over to the carriages. There were three, one for luggage, one for the new arrivals, and one for those who have been in the Dutchy. At least they'd be at the castle soon and behind safe walls... Or, at least, Zi and Lo would be separated. And maybe everyone will just be calm and relaxed. Hopefully. Please.

    Art tilted his head in confusion when he looked up to see who the hand belonged to, never in a million years would he have ever expected Lo to be the one to try to help him up. He smiled and took his hand, letting lo help guide him to his feet. "Usually i try to be more careful but I saw an opportunity and I took it without calculating the risk." he shook his head back and forth, flinging water everywhere "I promise I am not that bad anymore, that just seemed too easy. How have you been Lochannar?" Art attempted to sound as nice as possible as he walked towards the carriages, he changed and he wanted to prove it.

    Amarra rolled her eyes at the boys. Where had Arturo acquired this attitude? "Slightly greenish in hue." Poor guy... She wished there was some other way he could have gotten to their destination, just to spare him and his stomach.

    After aiding Arturo, Lochannar pointedly wiped his hand off on his pants with a slight grimace.
    "Really? That's a new one." He stepped back to avoid the water, but really, it was still raining and he was almost as wet as Arturo. As he turned and headed back to his box, he retorted: "Don't think I've made a massive change of heart, Arturo." He hefted up the box, resulting in a few disgruntled meows from within.

    "And I'm not letting you off the hook so easy. And to be quite frank," he glowered, "I'm wet, nauseous, partial to tossing you back in there, and in need of a good meal." He stormed onward. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have an estranged sister to avoid."

    He followed after the group, ready to get inside anywhere, to get away from the wet. Ellery followed, exuberantly chattering about this that and the other thing, which most of them probably tuned out anyways. Evandra, sticking next to Nilo(and the umbrella) remained near silent during the whole encounter.

    "D-Do not ignore me, Arturo... You should no better by now." Nilo would say with a tired huff. He just wanted them to stay safe but... This wasn't like what they were used to. You couldn't simply speak your mind here. That got you no where but to the grave. With a heavy sigh, he'd continue forward towards the carriages and step in with Eva. Time to go home... Just one step closer to the end of this...
