The red-hooded woman would quietly walk through the halls of the Red Duchy's royal palace. It was an eerily empty palace as the recent guests would find. Rio had grown accustomed to the silence that was the palace and she came to enjoy it. The echoing of her footsteps were somewhat reassuring in a strange way. It meant nothing bad was here, in her mind. She'd eventually turn a corner and enter the wing of the palace that held the royal library.
To say the wing held the library was an understatement, though. The wing itself was a giant library from the entrance forward. Three stories tall with multiple rows of shelves covering the floor as if it were some sort of forest. The walls themselves when not broken by a rather large, stained glass window were made out of shelves filled with books. Rio had spent much of her time within the library, studying and performing experiments in adjacent rooms meant for performing such tests. This was her home away from home if that made any sense.
Regardless, she'd begin walking forward, the basket she always carried with her gently cradled in the crook of her arm. She began plucking books from various shelves with a look of purpose in her eyes. She'd eventually find her way towards a large opening in the library with multiple tables and chairs were placed. The tables were elegant and the chairs cushioned for comfort. This truly was a king's library.
Rio would gently place the books on a table, pulling the chair out to sit at the table. She would open one idly before humming. She hadn't come today to study. The days leading to the wedding were busy and there was barely any free time amongst the royal family themselves. She was aware of her uncle's notable disdain from most of his half siblings. It made securing him a proper spot at the royal table rather hard... And then there was the business with Anenia requesting those who have been banished and then her daughter, Sana. It was perplexing, to say the least. She had still heard no word from her daughter in a long time. She trusted Alon to keep her safe but having no means to contact the child worried her as it would any mother.
She'd let out a sigh, a smile crossing her face when she finally heard the very tiny steps of her youngest child walk around a corner and towards her. He lived in the library, in a rather deep part. He was hired for his rather 'unique' circumstances and due to the Father Red's need for someone like him... She sadly had no room to object after all the help they had provided her. She'd wave towards him, a confused look on the boy's face before he flipped through a notebook he always carried. He'd look up after a while with a smile on his face, running towards her and promptly being picked up by his mother.
With a happy sigh, Rio would place him on her lap and flip a book to the beginning. She'd read the rather childish tale to her son, the same book she had read him the day before and the day before that. She practically memorized the book word for word but... It made him happy so she wouldn't object to reading it to him.
