For Hire - Quincy and ??? [Am]

It was late when Quincy arrived at the tavern. Word had made its way through the shady parts of the city, from urchins to assassins, to simple trouble makers. A noble needed someone dead.

It wasn't rare for a noble to search for someone of the undercity; normally they went for the professionals - assassins, murderers, spies, and the like. This request, however... Was rather... odd. The client refused to divulge personal details - not strange by itself, but it was the other information that made it unique. They asked for anyone to murder a woman, it didn't matter how, just that it was as soon as possible. But that was the only information given. No name, no crime, nothing. Just 'she is a woman, and I want her dead'.

The tavern was bustling with the common folk, though she'd be able to recognize the thieves and criminals trying to seem like everyone else. There was one, however, who didn't bother trying to blend in. He was dressed nicer than everyone else in the bar, his eyes hovering over the heads around him as he sat at a back table. It wasn't hard to guess who the client searching for a job was this time.

A night of laughter, carousing, and singing at the local tavern would lift anyone's spirits, eh? Most people ventured their way at the unwinding day for the latest news, gossip, and stories. Some found a lovely plethora of pockets to plunder, of the drunk-as-a-skunk patrons. Others, well, were just silly old troublemakers.

Quincy Flynn, however, was a bit of them all. Bard, drunk, talebearer, and petty theif all wound their way into her resume. But today, unfortunately, she had a mission. Rumor had spread, and she was quite... intrigued. As long as the woman this fellow wanted to kill wasn't her, she'd be up for the challenge.

And the pay.

She spotted the nobleman immediately. The pompous rat, arrogantly displaying his standing, despite his placement. She curled her lip. This would be... entertaining.

"Greetin's. I hear you're hiring." Without introduction, further inquiry, or otherwise, Quincy slid into a chair at the nobleman's table. Hands folded, and a smile gracing her lips, she hardly looked the part of a cold-hearted killer. She had the lilting smile of a minstrel and the daring smirk of a rogue.

He shushed her, glancing around in frantic panic. "N-not so loud." He seemed a bit mousey for wanting someone dead. He shifted nervously. "Y-Yes. I have a job for you. Everything is in the envelope." He pulled it out of his coat pocket and slid it across the table. "What do you think about it? If you don't desire it, my lord wishes you not to repeat it." Oh... He wasn't the one hiring. He was just a middle man. Now his mannerisms and obvious lack of awareness made sense.

On the paper was a simple drawing of a face, and a description of the person it depicted.

Katrina Alice Bryce, Captain of the Don of the Triad, Daughter of Cassius Myron Bryce, Former Captain of the Don of the Triad. Dark hair, Blue eyes, Aged Twenty-Eight

Wanted for crimes against New Adriellian Law; Theft, Defamation and Slander, Piracy, Smuggling, Forgery, Mutiny, Crimes against the Crown, and The Murder of Cassius Myron Bryce, John Alfred Baines, and Ralof Gibson. The price on her head is 7500 Gold for anyone who is willing to end her life.

Do not approach unarmed. She is very skilled, and unconcerned for human life.
Do not bargain with her. She is cunning and extremely manipulative. Assume that anything she says is to save her own life to continue it in crime. Anyone found out to be conspiring with her will face the same fate as she. End her life in any way you see fit, and proof of her death must be returned to Lord Lucian Aquino to receive your reward.

Quincy, despite the man's unease, seemed right at home. Taking the envelope with a casual, almost flippant air, she slipped it open. She settled back in her seat and perused the contents. Occasionally, she emitted a thoughtful 'hmm' under her breath.

But she almost seemed deliberate in her slow pace.

After what seemed like a ridiculous amount of time, the red-haired woman glanced up. Amusement danced across her expression. "Quite the impressive woman, I must say. I will relish the challenge." She leaned back and now examined the nobleman with equal.. scrutiny.

"But what seems odd is, why the covert advertisement for a wanted criminal? It seems... out of place."

He swallowed and shifted under her scrutiny and prolonged thought. "My Lord has a bit of personal... spite against her. He wants to go beyond the law; They will lock her up at worst, and at best..." He looked down at his lap, looking a bit green. "Hang her. He wants her to suffer." He, however, seemed a bit reluctant. Simply a differing view from a servant?

He swallowed again and looked up, his eyes hardening a bit. "I must know your answer,
so I may return to him. The ruining of livelihoods must cease."

Her eye twitched, and a look of slight hesitance passed over her. But it was gone in an instant, replaced by a cruel, twisted smirk. She noted his reluctance. The man didn't really want to be assigning the job, did he? "Make her suffer? My dear friend...," she splayed her hands out on the table, "you couldn't have asked for a better woman for the job. I can assure you, I'll be as 'unconcerned for human life' as she is."

Quincy leaned back and tucked the envelope inside her coat. "I'll take it. Pleasure doing business with you, friend." Her use of 'friend' was hardly friendly, perhaps more demeaning than anything. But she spoke with such a charming smile, that it was often hard to be insulted.

And with that, she stood, bowed lightly, then turned to depart.

He winced visibly, but nodded. The callousness faded away, and he sat there for a few moments before he moved. "My Lord appreciates your acceptance, and awaits with baited breath for your victory." He croaked out, standing to leave as well.

Now, her task was finding her. A bit more simple, since she sails on a boat. How many ports could she be in, anyway? The true question was; could she murder a person? Could she be so cruel? Then again, this woman sounded heartless. She was a murderer, surely that justified her death.

The cold night welcomed her once more, the moon shining down upon her as she went to complete her mission and earn her reward.
